About 1 in 6 individuals (≈17.5% or 186 million people) globally are affected by infertility during reproductive age; the incidence is similar between high- and low-income countries. Infertility is diagnosed after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse (or 6 months if the woman is over 35 years old). Numerous conditions (PCOS, endometriosis, obstructive disorders, etc.) can cause this condition, but unexplained infertility in women accounts for about 10–20% of cases: no evident cause is found.
In 2020 alone, more than 1.7 million assisted reproductive technology (IVF) cycles were performed worldwide. The average success rate per IVF cycle is between 30–50%, with higher rates (≈49%) in women under 35. In the United States, only about 23% of cycles result in a live birth.
Success decreases with age: under 35 years, around 40–49%; over 40 years, less than 10%.
The average cost of IVF per cycle in the United States is about 12,000–15,000 USD. In Europe: between 4,000 and 6,500 € (excluding medications).
Psychology and the experience of numerous therapists, such as Marisa Peer, explain that infertility is often linked to beliefs associated with pain or fear (e.g., past traumatic birth experiences or negative messages over time) that the subconscious may have interpreted as “I don’t want a baby.”
The main fears that can unconsciously block a woman from conceiving and carrying a pregnancy to term may include: fear of hospitals, fear of being unfit parents, fear of change (change of body, lifestyle, fear of losing work), guilt, fear of raising the child alone or of being rejected, etc. Often, these fears stem from childhood experiences or previous negative pregnancy experiences.
Fears are not rational and are always stronger than logic, so even if the rational mind says, “I want a baby, I want to get pregnant,” the irrational mind always wins.”
Obviously, lifestyle—and especially diet—affects the production of fertility hormones; it is important to follow a diet rich in essential fatty acids (omega-3), vegetables, and fruits, while eliminating refined carbohydrates, alcohol, and smoking; maintaining good sleep quality and managing daily stress. But never ignore the impact of the mind on biochemistry!
With hypnosis and RTT, work is done to remove unconscious blocks and replace them with positive affirmations (“linking conception to pleasure”).
A study published in the British Medical Journal shows that, by teaching women to replace negative thoughts with positive ones, the pregnancy rate increased from 20% to 50%, compared to conventional controls. A study by Harvard Medical School observed a similar improvement: 55% vs 20% in pregnancies.
Hypnotherapy can be used in conjunction with IVF and conventional therapies, and certainly does not reach the exaggerated costs of IVF.
How RTT Helps:
Removes psychological and emotional blocks related to conception;
Reprograms the mind with empowering beliefs;
Reduces stress and improves self-esteem, factors that influence biochemical balance;
Reduces unconscious resistance tied to thoughts such as “I’m not ready” or “I can’t do it.”
